Madison Awakening

Hello friends! Thank you for stopping by my page and sharing in my creative dream. This writer’s blog was created to share my fictional work Madison Awakening with the masses. My goal is that many of you will read, enjoy, and share my page.

This story began over ten years ago, after going to see a mentor’s home that was full of the art he designed. There was something that sparked in me that day and I began writing the skeleton of my piece. But, then life became busy and hectic, so the work was left unfinished with only a few chapters completed. Then, 2020 happened.

By trade I am a teacher. I have been teaching secondary level English for twenty years. But, when the COVID lockdown happened, I became lost. My identity was deeply rooted in the service to my students and it all…just stopped. I felt useless, unable to connect with the students that I loved so much. I found myself drinking about four bottles a week, alone on my couch, overwhelmesd with utter dread. Then a girlfriend of mine, reminded me about my book. She was like “You have the time now, so make it happen!”

So, I got to work. I allowed myself to expand my vision for this story (book one of a trilogy)and myself. I realized that before I was Ms. Kennedy, I have always been a writer. I wrote stories as a child but once adulthood set in, I packed it away like my old college textbooks. And in the summer of 2020, I had my very first book to share with my friends.

And now I share it with you! Would I love for a literary agent and publisher to see this and sign me to deal immediately? HELL YES! But the true purpose of this blog is to share my work with those that resonate with Madison, Jonathan, other diverse characters, the beauty of Brooklyn, and the power of saying fuck it when comes to what you truly want instead of letting your past keep you from it.
